CELEBRATING EMERALD COAST MEMORIES & TRADITIONS FOR NATIONAL TOURISM WEEK, MAY 11-15, 2009
April 22, 2009
The Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council (TDC) will celebrate National Tourism Week from May 11 to May 15. In conjunction with the national theme, “Celebrating Great American Traditions,” named by the Travel Industry Association, the Emerald Coast is honoring and highlighting memories and traditions in the Destin-Ft. Walton Beach-Okaloosa Island area. The Emerald Coast CVB has been collecting submissions and photos from tourists and locals alike on the website at: www.destin-fwb.com/emeraldmemories. People are recalling their favorite moments in our gorgeous destination in hopes to win a 3-night stay in the area. The winner will be chosen at random during Tourism Week. Visit the site to read hundreds of submissions, such as: “We were in Destin for my family reunion. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth and I have traveled the world with the military.” “We look forward to our week or two on the Emerald Coast. It is the only thing that gets us through the other 50 weeks of work and stresses a year.” “We have so many memories of the Emerald Coast over the past 15 years. Scuba diving, snorkeling, and riding jet skis with the dolphins to name a few. It is our home away from home.” On Monday, May 11, the Emerald Coast CVB will set up and welcome visitors at the Visit FL I-10 Welcome Center for the statewide Red Carpet Program. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the Official Okaloosa County Visitors Welcome Center May 12-15 to enjoy refreshments, door prizes, games, and local displays presented by the CVB/TDC and our local tourism industry partners. The Official Okaloosa County Visitors Welcome Center is located at 1540 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE, Ft. Walton Beach, FL (next to Beasley Park on Okaloosa Island). For additional information on the program, contact Sherry Rushing, Travel Industry Sales Director, or Sarah Leahy, Travel Industry Sales Manager, at 850-651-7647. ### Contact: Sarah Leahy, Travel Industry Sales Manager 850-651-7647 sleahy@co.okaloosa.fl.us « Back to Releases |
